A look at whats happening all around the majors Sunday:---PITCHING INAfter aces Madison Bumgarner and Jake Arrieta dueled at Wrigley Field on Saturday, Giants right-hander Johnny Cueto and Cubs righty John Lackey try for another low-scoring game when San Francisco wraps a four-game series at Chicago. The teams have combined for eight runs and 19 hits over the past two games but could get a break against the struggling righties in the finale -- Cueto allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings in a loss against Arizona in his last start, while Lackey is making his first outing since Aug. 14 after dealing with a shoulder injury.DALLAS DOMINATIONHouston tries to find a rare victory in Arlington when it concludes a three-game series against the Rangers. Texas won 12-4 on Saturday, improving to 13-2 against the Astros so far this season, including 1-8 at home. Collin McHugh (9-10, 4.80) pitches for Houston against Rangers star Yu Darvish (5-3, 3.01).CHASING BOOMERJ.A. Happ (17-4) will try to become only the second left-hander to win 18 games for the Blue Jays after David Wells won 20 in 2000. Happ can also become the majors second 18-game winner, following Bostons Rick Porcello. Toronto faces Tampa Bay, which has taken two straight from the AL East leaders.NO-NAMES AT NIGHTThe Nationals and Mets -- both counting big-name rotations this year -- play in prime time with lesser-known hurlers on the hill. For Washington, hard-throwing rookie Reynaldo Lopez (2-2, 5.33) gets his sixth start after allowing six runs in 2 2/3 innings against Baltimore last time out. For New York, righty Seth Lugo (2-2, 2.60) gets another turn in New Yorks banged up rotation after pitching six quality innings in a win over Miami on Tuesday.JUST IN TIMEJose De Leon is expected to make his major league debut starting for the Dodgers against the Padres. De Leon is one of baseballs top pitching prospects and was 7-1 with a 2.61 ERA in 16 starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. The call to the majors came just in time, too. I needed to be here in Los Angeles this year, De Leon said , because I wanted Vin Scully to call my game. Roy Ruskusky . Scott Kazmir allowed four hits in seven shutout innings, Michael Brantley hit a two-run homer in a three-run first inning and the Indians maintained their hold on an AL wild-card spot with a 4-1 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday night. Scott Gudmundson . After dropping their final six games of December, the Wild opened the new calendar year with four consecutive wins. Following a loss to Colorado on Saturday, Minnesota rebounded the following night to blank Nashville 4-0, but then had the tables turned on them Tuesday. . In what the team had called a retirement, Ryan said Thursday that he is resigning as chief executive of the Rangers in a move effective at the end of this month. Frank Oliver . Olli Jokinen, Mark Scheifele, and Bryan Little each had a goal and an assist as Winnipeg won 5-2, handing Calgary its record-setting seventh consecutive loss on home ice. Deuce Lutui . The return match will take place next Wednesday. Udinese leads Fiorentina 2-1 in the other semifinal. Napoli staged a second-half comeback from two goals down after Gervinhos opener and a stunning strike from Kevin Strootman. With Sean White on the mend, Auburn will turn to Jeremy Johnson at quarterback for Saturdays home game against Alabama A&M.Auburn coach Gus Malzahn announced Thursday on the Tiger Talk radio show that White wouldnt play this Saturday after reinjuring his right shoulder in last weeks loss to Georgia and that it would be Johnson -- the teams third-string quarterback -- who would get the start instead of John Franklin III.I know our teams excited for him, Malzahn said, referring to Johnson. Hes excited. John Franklin will get a chance to do things, too, but were very excited for Jeremy. Hell be ready to go.Johnson will be making his second appearance at quarterback this season. He was part of a three-quarterrback rotation against Clemson in the season opener and finished 4-of-6 for 38 yards with an interception.ddddddddddddA former ESPN 300 recruit, Johnson was highly touted going into the 2015 season, but after struggling through the first three games, he was pulled in favor of White.Obviously, its been tough the last two years on him, Malzahn said Tuesday. I think everybody knows that. But hes handled himself well. Hes been there for his teammates and just trying to help us win any way he can.Johnson will be one of 20 seniors honored before Saturdays game for Auburns Senior Day. ' ' '
